Literature Text

Who else woke up
from their dirt nap
with their knife
resting in their lap?
Good morning,
It’s time to get outside
and to pass the grave.
Oh, that’s right, you died.

Go ahead, give me the stare.
It’s not like I wasn’t prepared.
You can say “you’re not supposed to be here.”
Let me answer you, just so we’re clear.
Just cause I’m dead
and my eyes are made out of coal.
Just cause I’m dead
doesn’t mean I have no soul.
It’s probably purer than yours.

Just cause I didn’t fly my way up
doesn’t mean I’m not an angel.
I even got a little halo,
but on Earth it’s not that stable.
I stayed behind
because I have yet to be freed.
Oh my torn up body,
I forgot that I still bleed.

Go ahead, give me the stare.
It’s not like I would really care.
You can say “wait, you’re not supposed to be here!”
Please shush your mouth. Mortal, I am nothing to fear.
Just cause I’m dead
doesn’t mean I have to stay in my hole.
Just cause I’m dead
doesn’t mean I have no soul.
It’s probably purer than yours.

Look onto my wounds.
All of them, fatal, I know.
I was alive through them
until the final blow.
I am not here for that, no.
I’m here only to show
just cause I’m dead
doesn’t mean I have no brain in my head.
Just cause I’m dead
doesn’t mean I miss my comfy warm bed.
Just cause I’m dead
doesn’t mean I’m lifeless, but instead,
I’m here to say you’re all mislead.
The passing will rise again.
Maybe you’ll see a deceased friend.
Time will come and time will tell,
that as long as they’re not from Hell,
the end is really not the end.

Just cause I’m dead
It’s time for me to go.
Just cause I’m dead,
let me say to you, so you know,
if you want to be reassured
that all you living tragedies could be cured,
then try having a soul that’s of pure.
I was writing this at around 2 in the morning so...I'm not sure what I tried to create here.
Originally I wanted a version of myself that has faced Death to tell people there is no more room in Heaven, no matter how pure someone's heart is. And I just roam Earth like every other day despite having fatal stab wounds. But then I lost sight of it so...it sort of changed meaning a bit. The message of "Just cause I'm dead" is trying to set a stereotype that the undead aren't full of life but somehow angels, beings that have died, are somewhat of a symbol for eternal life ironically. At the end, I'm saying people (who aren't evil and deserve life) do come back into life eventually, and that being good in life will pay off before my being pretty much disappears.
If you kindly would, can you leave your own interpretation/thoughts on this?
